Senator Lewis speaks on budget deficit

Ignorance and lack of confidence on the part of the government are contributing factors that has led to this country’s huge deficit budget.

That’s according to Senator Dr. Linton Lewis who was speaking to the issue on the Newtimes program last Thursday.

Dr. Lewis said one way in which the government can reduce its deficit budget is by looking at the types of sectors that have the potential to assist with economic growth and place emphasis on these sectors.

The extent to which government intervene is pivotal on how much the country grows, he said.

In addition the government needs to regain the confidence and trust of investors that will allow for greater investment and employment creation to kick start the economy.

Innovation is also a key factor in reducing the deficit budget and this is where the New Democratic Party comes, he added.
